Hi,
I gave part 1 in sep with 2 months of preparation and scored 82 . The biggest mistake i did was i did not do the question papers but did study kaplan review book and decks very well. I am planning to retake the exam in may with atleast 4 months of preparation and ofcourse after doing as many question papers as possible. Its been a month since i have started preparing and i think i am doing good. This time i have joined kaplan. Their supplemetary tests/ topical review exams are helpful.I think its better to study kaplan review book first and then study dental decks as it is much easier to understand with kaplan book rather than going directly to decks and than do the question papers. I have few question papers but they are quite old ones. Can somebody share some recent question papers with me? That would really help me improve my score.

Hello All future dentists,
I am also planning to give my exam in a few months. I have read the Kaplan review book.I was suggested by a few friends of mine who have cleared the test and got into a dental school that we should go through all the old papers..and be thorough with them.It seems that a lot of questions are repeated in CBT.

I suggest that we should take 2 subjects at a time. Say Micro in the morning and Biochem in the evening....Complete one topic[or more if we can] daily ...also have a look into the decks ...say about 10-14 pages per day.....at the end of the weekend we can all discuss those topics and share qny questions we have found difficult..and also get our doubts clarified.....

I guess we can do this...we have all done this before..and so can all of us do it now..

At present i am studying Micro and biochem from kaplan review book,...and later in the night i go through old papers.....If you feel this plan will work out..pls mail here..we can form a study group and be in touch with each other.

Hi , I have been studying from the kaplan review book and its definitely the first tool to have while starting your preparation ..........did you say you are in lkw... coz if yu ar ein India at present then yu need to inquiire for kaplan centre s in delhi .........If not ....then ofcourse there are lots of places in Canada where you ca n get Kaplan material from ........... Mainly college book stores n libraries..Best would be to buy the book from someone who has aalready taken the boards.....I am sure there willbe lots of fellow dentists on the forum who are selling of part1 material and yu can take t from them

I took the exam once and got 87. i am preparing again to give it in june. My plan is to study the dds and kaplan thrice atleast before appearing for the exam. I started with path and micro.

You really think Kaplan is worthy of studying 3 times? I took it once before too, in last Sep, and got 85. Last time I only studied 2001's deck and some of the released exams for 2 mo? I got 2006's deck this time and I plan to do all the old exams. Some people say Kaplan book is good esp for the Biochemistry part. so I also plan to read that book once after I study the deck. Any advice? Thanks!
