Any news from Army applicants? I won't be boarded until 2/21, so I have my fingers crossed.

When did you get your completed packet in?

Mine was completed 2/7, yet my recruiter said I'll meet the March board.

I was accepted to med school in October '05, my HPSP application was sent to the board in early November, and I received the HPSP later that month. It happened much faster than I thought.

Like 2/1 or somewhere around that. Maybe she meant March 21 and not Feb 21.

I think March 21. My recruiter said the board meets next in late March, with results released a few days later. Due to some paperwork issues I barely missed the January board, and I got the impression the board only met every other month. Otherwise it would have made sense to think I'd make the February board (if there was one.)

Any recollection of how competitive it was last year, and expectations for this year? My recruiter couldn't/wouldn't give out specifics, but gave the impression they were pretty evenly matched last year for applicants to scholarships available. He also said prior service have a definite advantage.

My recruiter told me it's pretty much a sure thing if your packet includes an acceptance letter. I imagine the only instances in which you would not get it would be some red flag in your packet, such as criminal issues or anything that would otherwise disqualify you.

I just finished my packet, and was told it would go before the April board. I'm hoping to knock out OBC this summer if possible.

This is certainly off topic, but here is a link for the board dates. The dental applicants will be considered on the AMEDD boards. HPSP Board Dates (https://www.hrc.army.mil/site/active/opmsc/usarec_board.htm)

That's for last year. I'm pretty sure the next HPSP board is March 21 - 24.

By the way, the Navy is meeting every two weeks now.

I missed the January Army HPSP board by a few days. My recruiter said the next board was 21-24 March, with results available a few days later.

I wonder how the Navy's doing this year? Last year 50% of their scholarships went unclaimed.

I didn't ask while I was there. I know the Navy guys here are getting a lot of Army converts, especially in nursing; many Army ROTC nursing people are trying to switch branches after graduating.

I feel for the Navy guys here, though -- they are right next door to the Air Force HPSP guys. :D

I did like how all of the Navy stuff is done electronically; no more filling out that SF 86 by hand! Unfortunately, the navy requires one to go through two interviews, while I had to do none for the Army.

Just a correction to a previous post, the Navy meets every Wednesday and you can find out that same day if you are selected.

Wow...I didn’t even realize the chart was outdated. Thanks.

I just heard from my recruiter today that I was selected for the Army HPSP. That's a big shock, I didn't think the board met until late March.

My recruiter also previously told me the next board was 21-24 March (see above posts). Yet TODAY I received an email from my recruiter, stating simply: "Give me a call ASAP."

Of course I couldn't check my email today until long after his office closed, so now I get to go the entire weekend wondering what this is about. Based on HooahDOc's post, and the timing of my email, I'm hopeful I'll also have good news to report on Monday.

I'm positive it's the same news I received; I remember her telling me that the results are released on Friday. The urgency is probably them wanting to get you to sign the paperwork before you realize what you're doing :D

I'm curious to know why they met earlier. Maybe they are meeting every couple of weeks now like the Navy is to meet their quota?

Regardless, I decided to go with the Army over the Navy last night, so the timing was perfect. I'm heading up there early next week to sign. Guess I'll see you at OBC next summer.

I think my file was in for the Jan boards. My recruiter called me mid feb. and told me the dental results were in and my file was still under review. Sometime in late feb he told me everything came through, then i had to sign a lettter of intent and I m geting comissioned (Army) next week. Rock on.

Does anyone know that chances of getting an early entry to OBC (before M1)? I've already got my commission, and sent in the request - so does anyone know my chances of OBC this summer?!?!?

It shouldn't be a problem - my packet is going before the April board, and I'm hoping to make the June OBC class this summer before I start my M1 year.
