Hi, I'm an DO MS2 leaning towards rural family practice. One of the residencies that I'm interested in is dual accreddited with AOA/ACGME and has an affiliation with my DO school. However, in the "residency admission requirements" they list USMLE/ECFMG as a requirement...no mention of COMLEX. Is it safe to assume that being accreddited by the AOA means that they accept the COMLEX on an equal basis as USMLE? (I'm honestly not inclined to take the USMLE if I don't have to)

What program is it? If it the Dartmouth/UNECOM program who knows but I can't imagine any AOA approved program requiring you to take the USMLE. You would probably be best served by contacting them.

You could always call and ask. If it is not a formal requirement, then I would imagine that COMLEX would be good enough for 99.5% of the allopathic FM programs.
