Has anybody done some research into buying a camera to take intraoral pictures. i was looking at the canon s2 is with a added macro lens, maybe a ring light?. I don't want to spend 1500 for a camera from a dental company, has anybody had good combinations from comsumer cameras?

I bought the Canon A610 from dell for $230+, and Raynox 250 macro lense and adaptor+stepdown ring from lensemateonline. Add a homemade flash diffuser and make it under $350. Pictures are turning out great so far. Good luck.

Check KODAK.
They have some good ones.
After you see one that suits you, check for the individual components on amazon.com ;)
A ring flash is pretty expensive though.

A nice camera is the digital SLR Nikon D70/D70s. You can get all the attachments that you need usually by just searching around on the internet or from ebay.

Can you tell us how you constructed and attached the flash diffuser? I read somewhere about using white opaque plastic or even paper over the flash and the overhead operatory lights could improve results.
