i think it's impossible to know what it means in the way that you would like. we're even less "in the know" than you on this one. but if i were you i'd take it at face value and let it go, like your own gas in the wind.

take a deep breath. believe in yourself and the process. one day somewhere not so far down the road you are going to have long forgotten that time you were so worked up over the phrase "best of luck in the match" that you spent undue amounts of energy analyzing it to futile ends.

its better the not hearing anything...i dont know if it's an East Coast vs. West Coast thing, but i've gotten feedback from the west and nothing from the east

If it means anything, the only "Best luck in the match" letter I've received was from the one program where I left knowing that things just didn't go well in the interview. So.....you know my opinion.

actually I hang out in the IM forum when I'm not making the band. I was intrigued by the thread title since I had a similar experience during the fellowship match process. Fo' shizzle. (snoop, I know, but he my nizzle)

It means exactly what it says...good luck. That's it. You all need to stop dissecting communication from PDs and rank where you want to go, in your order of preference. And the PDs need to stop dissecting the thank you notes from applicants (oh my god, he said he's considering ranking us highly...what does that mean!!!!) and rank the people that they want in the order that they want them.
