Just wanted to get some opinions on, what most of you are using, or getting the most use out of, in terms of PDA medical software. Who likes epocrates vs Pepid, or Up to Date,? Anyone using several different ones or combinations, or just one basic one for most everything?

i use epocrates and tabors medical dictionary. $139 and $50 if memory serves. they are both extremely handy, i literally use them dozens of times each day.

UptoDate on a PDA is amazing but how practical is it for you to sit there and read long articles on that tiny screen when you're busy?

Here's what I use on mine:
- Dictionary (dorlands, but any would do)
- EPocrates (free version)
- 5MinuteClinicalConsult: This is nice and cuts to the chase...you can quickly review an approach/plan when in the elevator en route to ER, good program
- MedCalc (lots of cool calculators for BMI, various scales, unit conversions. etc)

Everything else is filler IMHO... :)

THanks, do you think the free version of epoctrates is enough? I was about to get the full version, but didnt know if it is worth it?

i havent used the free epocrates, but the full version has 6 sub headings. meds, symptoms, diseases, tables, labs, id, and also some extra converion tables etc..
i know its pricey, but i think its invaluable..

Free version is good....has drug name, mechanism, dosing, indications, side effects, cost etc... The full costly version may have some nice tricks but how often would one use any of that stuff?
