I work for an ophthalmologist, and will be able to get corrective surgery done for $500. I'm seriously considering getting it done, but wanted to hear some feedback from people who have had it done. Were you happy with the results? Any feedback would be great. Thanks!!

I used to run a clinic that does laser eye surgery so I have a fairly decent understanding of the costs involved and how they generally operate.
Is the $500 the standard fee, or are you getting some kind of courtesy discount? What is the normal fee had you walked in off of the street?

The staff of the ophthalmologists pay $500 for the facilities fee (normal people would pay $1000 for this facilities fee). The total cost for someone walking off the street is $3000 for both eyes. The surgeon as well as the optometrist are charging me $0, so I just need to pay the $500. I'm Canadian, so this is also in canuck dollars ;)

One Ophthalmologist I interned with in his office offered to give me LASIK for free. I doubt I will ever get it done though, just not something i'm interested in, although I have no problem giving patients information about. I feel it would be unethical if I didn't. just my 2 cents
