Hi I was wondering if any optometry students were aware of other schools besides UH (I saw what CPW previously wrote) offered international externship sites. Anyone know?

Indiana U has a clinic in Guanajato (sp?) Mexico.

We have several as far as I know. I don't know how many people actually take advantage of it though.

SCCO has externship at the Naval Hospital Yokosuka (Tokyo area), Japan and a Branch Medical Clinic Pearl Harbor, HI. I don't know if you'll consider HI overseas but it's outside CONUS :)

ACTUALLY PCO HAS A FEW OVERSEA SITES. LAST YEAR, THERE WAS ONE IN GERMANY.

Oh, that's good to hear that PCO offers them overseas because Gwenn Amos at PCO told me that there weren't any.

Pacific has many places internationally. Also, if you find somewhere you want to go, they'll most likely be able to approve it.

I know Nova has one site in China, I am not sure exactly where in China.

Most schools also allow you to arrange for your own externship if you have connections to a particular location/optometrist. There is however ususally quite alot of paperwork :(

At Pacific right now we have externships offered in Germany, China, and Austrailia besides the US/Canada ones. Every year is a little bit different though, so there may be different choices in years to come.
