My medicine program doesn't provide a PDA and I need to get a new one before I start. I'm not much of a techie so what are your recommendations for which PDA to buy? What features/capabilities do you think would be important to have? And what features are just fun add-ons? Thanks.

Regardless of which brand you buy, I think a PocketPc pda is better than a palm. I

If you're familiar with Microsoft Windows, using a Pocket PC is very easy. I got a Dell Axim last year and have been pretty happy with it. I just wish it had more memory.

Do NOT buy a Palm T5. The thing is a POS.

I'm not looking for a phone PDA. The PDA I have now is a Palm and I've been fairly happy with it. Why do you recommend avoiding the Palm OS?

So why are you looking for a PDA if you already have one?

I got a Palm Clie a while back for something like 60 bucks. It holds all the software I need and I don't use it for anything else. If you are not going to play mp3s, edit excel files, take photos of Paris Hilton, or look like Uhuru from Star Trek with a giant phone/palm by your ear, don't spend $400 on a stupid gizmo.

I'd recommend an all-in-one solution. Palm Treo 650 is by far the best Palm OS smartphone. I've been using it since they were first released and will never go for anything else. Palm OS is fast, simple, and works like a clock.

I emphatically would NOT recommend a pocketPC operating system, Palm is definitely the way to go and the reason is simple...there is waaay more medical software available for the Palm OS, especially free software. People have CDs full of commercial medical programs which they may allow you to copy (PM me)...but they are for Palm only.

Two good ones are Archimedes and MedCalc. The latter is a bit nicer because it actually shows you the formula, but I use both since each has some formulas that the other is missing. PM me for a cheap way to get these and other programs.

MedCalc is free, so is MedRules.
