Hi Family Practice Residents .... I'm only a 1st-year student, but I have a pretty focused interest in working with disadvantages/neglected communities particularly in less developed countries. I attend Ben Gurion University Medical School for International Health in Israel and yesterday we had a fantastic 3 hour lecture by Dr. Leon Epstein - a diehard advocate for community oriented primary care --COPC-- (he's authored several papers with Fitzhugh Mullan etc). Anyway, his lecture was inspiring and got me thinking about where I want to do my Family medicine residency and how I could use these COPC concepts in practice.
My question is ... are there any residency programs that that use this COPC concept as a focus track? What about programs that allow you to do an MPH with a focus on community medicine? If anyone has some suggestions and has researched this subject, please post your thoughts. Thank you so much.
