ok, in service exam is 8 months away...what books to review? I just dont want to be the only intern to hit 40%!! :D

It's only a baseline test for interns. You aren't supposed to do well on it. The goal is to improve every year so that by the time you graduate you will score well enough to know you can pass the boards. I didn't sweat it and still did well (which means next time I WILL have to study... uggh!).

What % should I shoot for in my PGY-3 year? 70%= passing the boards? Oh, thanks for the reply.

Even if your inservice exam score isn't... great you can do just fine on boards. Assuming you study of course.

do all IM programs have this exam? is it a national exam where all 3 years take the same exam each year?

I spoke with the PD on my second look and asked about inservice and he says the percentile which you get on your second inservice predicts/determines how well you will do on your IM boards. Odd, right? You'd think it would be the last one. Just a thought
