Well, I was a chemist first. Fortunately, I realized that I hated lab before I got out of school the first time. Spent 10 years doing environmental consulting (Superfund sites, business assistance, etc.) - then I got a job as a pharmacy tech so I would have a shorter commute instead of 2+ hours per day. Things just sort of went from there.

I am switching careers from the airline industry to pharmacy and I am used to dealing with the public on all levels (the good, the bad and the really really NASTY!!) So, I will probably work retail after I graduate to pay off some debt. It will also allow me to have a flexible schedule until my son is older. After that it will depend on if I feel like going back to school to get my PhD (UCSF has a great Pharmacogenomics program) or continue to pursue areas in hospital pharmacy or some other clinical area. I am sure my mind will change several times before I graduate from pharmacy school. I am still considering the dual program PharmD/MBA that USN offers as well, but I don't have to decide that until the second year. :)

I graduated undergrad with a business degree and then went to work for GlaxoSmithKline (pharmacy has always been in the back of my mind and I thought working there would be enough..it wasnt!!!). While I was there they paid me for me to go back to school so I decided to do nursing part time since you can't do pharmacy part-time. The only part I liked was helping children. I also want to have children and felt that medicine is hard to balance with children which left me with the perfect solution of a clinical pediatric pharmacist. So I went and got a Masters in bio to finish my pre-req and will start Duquesne PostBac PharmD program this fall. I tried to get a job at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as an intern but they only take full-time..They did assure me they would think about it so we'll see..Otherwise I guess it's back to Walgreens or CVS...So that's my story..Once again, I'll be 25...

I've also applied to A LOT of schools in the past two years..my undergrad grades were pretty low for any of you seeking hope....

How funny! And I really talked it up in the interview about giving the class 'diversity' due to my age. Watch us walk in and half the students be over 35

Are you really 54? (It's hard to tell when people are joking on here. :D) Were you the older applicant at the UT interview on March 24?

Yea, I'm really 54 and that was me on the 24th. Happily, I still feel like I'm in my low thirties, physically and mentally. I also have a good genetic life line.

Happy to be alive, at any age.
