How many of you have landed residencies near where you currently live?
How many of you who are in a serious relationship or are married have found that you need to move away from your significant other? Is this common? If so, how do you deal with this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have one close to me...
I think it is common to really only look into residencies in areas that you and your sig other are willing to move to
at least that's what everyone in my class has done... their sig others will be moving with them

Some sites discourage you from doing a residency there if you have done your PharmD nearby, as they want you to have a variety of experiences. That varies by residency site, though.

i go to school in boston and most of my classmates applied to local residencies here in boston and they got them. that may only be because there are so many positions in and around the boston area.

We just received an email of where our P4 students received residencies. Many are local (within 2-3 hours) of Shenandoah, but one guy got a residency in Utah.
I personally wish to move to the west coast after graduation, so I will more than likely look for residencies in northern CA, OR, and WA.
