Bupivacaine (Marcaine) has all of the following properties relative to lidocaine (Xylocaine) EXCEPT bupivacaine: 1. is more toxic 2. is an ester-type LA 3. has a slower onset of action 4. has a longer duration of action ASDA's answer is 2. I thought it should be 4, no? Bupivacaine is an amide type of LA and so is lidocaine. So why is the answer 2????? I don't know, I just find this question to be very weird, especially the way it's worded. Anybody? Thanks Intactsmile 04-20-2006, 06:19 AM Hey guys, I'm a bit confused about an answer which the ADA has given to the released question below.
