Not because of this thread, but I also did some research on Dental School Ranks. I had a very hard time finding something similar as the US Medical School Rankings. The only thing I found is if I remember right :
Harvard 1st
Yale 2nd
UPENN 4th
NYU around 10th
UIC around 16th position and it was a not recent publication on a web site and I don't know if it was acuurate and legitimate.

I think the important thing in this, that all schools are good as long as you graduate, anyway u will just hang it up your diploma in your office :laugh: so let just don't diferentiate between schools.

US News used to do ranking for dental schools, that is no longer the case.

there are no official ranking for dental school.

(but i like the way ucla is looking...)

they do have a large # of advance standing dental students. that's gotta count for something, especially in an international dental forum.

Harvard prepares you to become a researcher or teacher not a good dentist. Everyday they give you a paper to write about something.

Although Yale University offers different dental residency programs, they do not actually have a dental school.

Out of the 56 accredited US dental schools, Yale University is not one of them.

I am not sure how you reached a conclusion of it not only having a dental school, but the second best in the Nation?

Some schools will claim that they are the first or second best in the nation based on their graduating class pass rate/percentile on the National Board Exams or the passing percentage of regional licensure exams. You know, I wouldn't pay much attention to it.

Different schools offer different concentrations (clinical, academic, research opportunities) leaving you with the ultimate choice. Every individual will rank dental schools according to their own priorities, and only if they fit your own, should you base your decisions upon those rankings.

We can talk about dental school rankings all day long. The matter of the fact will remain the same ... there are no solid dental school rankings, and for a good reason.
Just be content with the program you are in (anyone). I can assure you that most, if not all, dental schools provide very competent education and comprehensive training for future dentists.

They got rid of rankings because there were too many factors to judge the schools by. Harvard, Tufts, Penn and Marquette are all well respected. Temple, NYU and SIU are crummy. It depends on what you're looking for I guess..

Well... according to the "Best Dental Schools" magazine that is going to be published in print very soon (I have sources :D ), according to this famous & reputable authority in the dental world, University of the Pacific School of Dentistry was ranked 1st place, and I'm not saying this because I'm in the Pacific ( honestly unbiased ;) )

Here is the proof (http://geocities.com/tkilani/dental), looks like they started the list but didn't finish it yet, oh and by the way, I know you can see my name in the web site address above, but it's completely coincidental (honestly ;) )

So hopefully this will end this debate once and for all :meanie:
