I only have a couple of available elective rotations before the residency application process. I am wondering how important it is to rotate through a prospective program for the traditional rotating DO internship. I know that it would be ideal, but since I am considering an allopathic residency, it seems that it would be to my benefit to use my out rotations for the allopathic hospitals. Are the traditional rotating internships competitive?? Any thoughts?? Thanks! :)

I would definately schedule a rotation at the internship site if it is competitive.

Each program is different and while many places like to see that you rotated with them, some internships will take just about anyone to fill their spots.

But to answer your question, yes there are indeed competitive osteopathic internships.

Another thing you should be looking at is out-of-system electives during your internship year that you can use to rotate at the allopathic residency programs of your choice.
