I currently have Sprint but will be moving to Detroit for residency. Anyone have a cellphone service that they hate/love, suggestions?????

I have Verizon, and I love it. I get service in many places where people with other carriers don't. I used to have Cingular, but had many problems with it (that was before they switched over to the GSM system though). My brother has got Nextel, but he is switching over to Verizon. I've spoken with many people who own Cell Phone stores (like Wireless Giant, Wireless Toys, etc) and most say that Verizon has the best coverage in the Detroit area.

Verizon works very well for me. Even inside of buildings... They have very good coverage down here. I don't know about any of the other services. All my friends have verizon as well.

Verizon is pretty darn good for almost anywhere in MI. The only exceptions are places up north that don't have many towers. I have sprint, and as lousy as the customer service is, I'm sticking with them. I get reasonably good coverage, reasonable pricing, and some cool perks like free messaging/web/2-way etc.
Just out of curiosity, which part of MI are you in. I could refer you to a dealer if you're in the SE areas, and haven't found a dependable dealer yet.

i am a student at wsucom. but, i know i get good reception in scott hall (as much cement as a parking structure), detroit receiving, karmanos cancer hospital, and children's hospital.

Verizon is the best. I have had them forever and I use it in Detroit...even in basements I get awesome coverage....gerat service. I go to the Verizon center at Fairlane Mall the guys there have been awesome and will do almost anything for you and if you say " may I speak to the manager" that works wonders too!!!!!!!!!! Go with VZW, the others are cheap imitators!

Verizon for sure. I grew up here and have been in many hospitals all over...and ive never had any problems. its the only way to go!

just so you know, detroit is trying to make ban talking on your cell phone while driving (hands free is would still be okay though).
