I finished medical school about 7 years ago and I am about to finish my residency in Pediatrics, both in Israel. I have passed thje USMLE 1 and 2.
I am moving to California following my husband for 2-3 years. Is there any way I can practice there as a physician?
Thanks,
Danna

- if you don't have a valid ECFMG certificate yet, you'll have to get one
- you will have to obtain a letter from the california medical board stating that you will be eligible for a medical license (it costs $600 or so and takes a couple of months) before you are allowed to apply for any positions in cali.
- probably you will have to repeat some if not all of your graduate medical training. Chances are you will get credit for some of your overseas training (you might be allowed to shorten residency by 1 year if you do a fellowship afterwards). Contact the american board of pediatrics about that.
- california is a difficult place to get into. Lots of competition, you might be better off going to the northeast for your training and move to cali later on.
