A - I can't delete that thread.

I changed my blog updating to weekly because I've been a slacker recently. I've been updating it on the weekends when I have more time. My schedule is going to get busier from here on out, so I figured weekly was a safer bet than daily.

Plus, I don't want to run out of things to write about ;)

Makeup-

When I'm having a bad breakout week, I usually get the Neutrogena compact makeup (that has a sponge with it - not in a bottle) that has the salycilic acid in it and it works well to provide medium coverage and hide blemishes. Almay has a good one, too. If you are going out somewhere fancy and need full-coverage, I recommend MAC cosmetics. I used them for my wedding and my makeup was flawless (did it myself). Otherwise I use a water-based foundation.

My skin is also oily, so I need a foundation-to-powder base + oil-absorbing powder, otherwise you could lube a hinge with the oil on my face (I also have to shower every day or my hair looks stringy and nasty).

My skin will break out even more if I don't wear makeup. Weird.

On a different note-

I have the house to myself tonight!!!!!!!! no class, and my husband has rugby practice til 8 then meeting at their pub and he won't be home until I'm happily dreaming away. Since he's the coach, too, he has to attend all the functions, and after every Thursday practice they all meet at the local pub to have selections on who will play in the Saturday match, then have a few drinks and B.S. with each other. My husband gets home late because he makes sure everyone gets home at a decent hour, then has a 45-minute drive home.

So, I'm watching HP and the Goblet of Fire that I TiVod the other night.

Even if the baby's head is coming out right then and you really want to catch the baby put your gown on FIRST and then SEAL your gloves over your gown. Do not get all excited, put on gloves first, and then put on gown, as gown will work its way up your arm leaving you defenseless against the placenta.

You are absolutely right. But there are lots of things you can just use sterile gloves for (like cervical checks on a woman in labor, stitching up lacerations, putting in central lines, etc.). The gown during delivery is really for the protection of the physician and not for the patient, unlike in surgery where it is more for the protection of the patient. If that makes any sense. The gowning is what takes a minute or two whereas you can just pretty quickly throw on a pair of sterile gloves.

It's a scanning electron micrograph of a culture of airway epithelia from some knockout mice I was studying. The cilia are pseudo-colored (by a computer - just makes it look cool - the original data was black and white).

Yeah, that's abnormal. That's why I was so excited about these mice. Normal cilia don't have those bulges and spikes. (I haven't published it yet, so shhhh... ;) )

It's a scanning electron micrograph of a culture of airway epithelia from some knockout mice I was studying. The cilia are pseudo-colored (by a computer - just makes it look cool - the original data was black and white).

I think is still up to debate somewhat. Lots of times during viral infections the epithelium itself is severely damaged and the whole cell layer will slough off, so you do lose your precious cilia. :) It probably depends on the virus too. I actually worked on viruses too (not influenza, but adenovirus and RSV) and never really looked at that specifically. *itches to go infect some airway epithelia with different viruses and measure ciliary beat frequency*

Have you ever seen pictures of a smoker's airway epithelium? They basically have no cilia. Their whole airway epithelium gets replaced with non-ciliated squamous epithelium. It's nuts.

There is SO MUCH we don't know about cilia. Boy it is hard to leave the lab for so many years.

they are ok. some people love them, some people hate them. They are a decent crust. I prefer their garlic dipping sauce with pizza. Yumm. Its not horrible though ... yet I prefer some real pizza from a local place.

They just introduced the thin crust when i quit. I don't know how their pan crust would taste, but I recommend the original. That way you can dip in it the garlic sauce.

So I just caught back up with reading all of your posts. You guys were mighty chatty in the last 3 hours or so. Anyhow, I went to an awesomely great Italian Restaurant near Bern's for those of you from Tampa. Its called Bellas. Its wayyyyyyyyy in the South end of Tampa and really good. Me and my friend went as end of the semester thing.

It was fun. I might end up going back that way tomorrow because my friend's graduation and she wanted Italian. Its all good, I could see myself going there again as long as I don't have to drive the second time in a row. :laugh: :laugh:

My 3 year old niece loves this book too. It actually brought tears to my eyes to see it because I miss her so much. :( I have a gigantic box of stuff to spoil her with!
