Can anyone answer the following question?

If I am a praticing doctor in Colombia and I move to North America (Canada), can I still use the title Dr.? Or, do I have to be license in Canada in order to use the Title Dr. or the suffix, M.D.?

Thanks for your help!

Do a google search on a character called "Dr Phil" if you want to see the kind of legitimacy you need to call yourself doctor in North America.

In all seriousness, don't use the title doctor in a clinical context unless you have a licence to practice medicine in that country/state.

Feel free to use your degree title in academic, business and personal/social contexts though.

Don't give medical advice of any kind if you don't have a licence, even if it is for free. Even for friends. Even if it just the same advice the average untrained man on the street would give. There are lawyers who make their living from this kind of situation. Feel free to do the basics if required in an emergency situation, (CPR/BLS etc) but call 911 asap and don't mention you are a trained doctor.

i agree, in other words, use it as a title but NOT as a profession.
