my wife is IMG and before getting into USMLE I, she wants to work as a volunteer in SFGH hospital (to improve her language and also become familiar with USA hospitals/doctors cultural system).

Question is, will she have an advantage when compared with other volunteer applicants whose education and skills are not related to medicine? Or it will be a disadvantage because she is "overqualified"...or they simply do not care?
