Hello fellow pre-dent, dental students, etc...
I've been lurking for a while now and I decided to introduce myself and ask some questions..
First of all I just graduated with a BS and I'm planning to apply for Fall 2007.
I haven't taken the DAT yet.. I'm planning on taking it around late July.
I was wondering what would be your recommendations regarding preparing for it.
I've been reading over the threads and it looks like the kaplan book would be good investment. But I was wondering if I would need to get additional books or if the kaplan one would be sufficient. I still have my bio intro, genetics, cell structure, and organic books; but I don't know if I should be studying from them since they are HUGE!
I'm a little worried since I took organics about 2 years ago and I've been taking all bio classes since I was a freshman. Althought I got good grades in all my classes, I don't know if I would remember everything I learned during those 4 years..

Any comments would be greatly appreciated :)

Kaplan will be fine for chem and ochem... but its a little sketchy on bio, so get Schuams bio outline for this section. Barrons pat is good. Get topscore and datachiever for practicing the actual test and you will be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply... I think I'm going to get those, but I couldn't find the DATachiever. Is it a book?

Nevermind the last question.. I found it on Ebay. But I'm wondering if i can just get either the topscore and datachiever since I don't have that much money.. which one would you recommend?

Topscore most closely resembles the actual DAT from what I've heard. But then again, if you're going to spend 200 bucks to TAKE the DAT what's another fifty bucks to PREPARE for it? After all practice makes perfect.

SPEND ALL THE MONEY YOU CAN ON PREPARING!!!! Let me put it this way... would you pay $200 to someone if they told you you would get 3 extra points on the DAT? I think you would.

And guess what... you will probably score additional points if you used all the materials available out there. Barrons got review books for chem, orgo, math, biology, and then there is TopScore, DATAchiever, KSF Review. Hey, use them all...if getting a high score is what you really want! ;)

Stop thinking about spending money on books. What should really get you is how much you are spending on gas for your car! lol
