How much is the supplemental essays really worth? I'm just starting to write my supplemental essays for some of the schools and wanted to know if they really look at those essays. I mean there's already an essay through pharmcas that you have to write for. The supplemental essays cannot be a big factor in your admissions process is it?

This is just my personal opinion but I think schools are focusing more and more on our ability to communicate effectively (especially the written word). Any chance for them to see more of what we can do can make a big difference in whether we are invited to interview or not. At all the interviews I went to, I also had to write an on-the-spot essay as well. The adcom at one school even told us that the first people to be rejected would be the ones who couldn't write a decent essay to prove their commuication skills. I would take anything I sent to them (e-mails, resumes, extra essays, etc.) very seriously.
