They won't send out any actual apps to the schools until their registration starts anyway. Actually if memory serves, you can set up all your pharmcas stuff before even paying.. the apps just won't go out until you do pay. anfhockey10 05-14-2006, 08:02 PM Go ahead and start getting your PharmCas together... it's very time consuming and you can keep adding on to it. If I remember correctly, the application on PharmCaswont be available until the beginning of June. The question is should I wait until I get my grades for my BIO II and Organic Chem I and II before I apply so that the adcoms will see all my pre-req grades when they look at my application? Or does it not matter? I have my BS in Engineering and all I need is to finish the pre-reqs to apply to pharmacy school. Some schools require PCATs and I wont take it until October. Do they even look at your application if its not completed? Does pharmcas allow you to update your application anytime you want even after you have paid all your fees and even after your application has been sent out to the schools? imprecious 05-14-2006, 10:39 PM If you are taking Ochem this summer, you will be able to get those grades inputted into PharmCAS before the deadline at most schools in the fall. I believe that some schools want to at least see your Ochem grades (I remember UCSF specifically saying that). With your taking ochem in the summer, you can start your pharmCAS application in June, but don't submit it until you have your grades in for ochem. Hope this helps. :) best wishes! :luck: JerryPharmD 05-15-2006, 03:32 AM If I remember correctly, the application on PharmCaswont be available until the beginning of June. Schools don't look at PharmCas in real time, so they don't see partial applications. You fill in your info and submit it. If memory serves, there is 1 update window for fall grades. I personally think that it would look better if you wait till after you finish these classes(whatever you're taking in the summer term) before submitting the PhamCas. I'm in the same situation here. I will be taking Anatomy and Physiology this summer. Should I submit my Pharmcas in July to be considered early, or wait until September to have my grades ready? Doing so, I'm afraid that i'll be missing the chance of applying early... Thanks! imprecious 05-16-2006, 05:55 PM Hi! I'm in the same situation here. Doing so, I'm afraid that i'll be missing the chance of applying early... Thanks! It really depends on the school that you're applying to. Some schools will look at applications as they come in, so it would be more beneficial for you to apply early in that case. Other schools will not begin to look at appilcations until their deadline, so even if you apply early, it does not matter. Since it's anatomy and physiology that you're taking, I'm not sure if those grades will be considered to a great extent. You will be able to indicate on PharmCAS that you will take these two classes over the summer. You'll be able to input your grades at a later time. Good luck! :luck: smallkitty00 05-16-2006, 09:40 PM Thank you. I know what to do now. smallkitty00 05-18-2006, 03:46 PM Another question.....when i checked Western University (CA), they do not list general Bio as one of the prereqs. So, will they include the general bio series later? Also, is the school gonna take whatever GPA calculated from Pharmcas or they will recalculate it, based on their list of prereqs? imprecious 05-18-2006, 09:13 PM Another question.....when i checked Western University (CA), they do not list general Bio as one of the prereqs. If you are applying for fall 2007, I believe the pre-req's you need to look at are the ones that are immediately listed on the website as of right now for the school. I dont' think they'll be changing it within the next few months. Perhaps you should email or call the school to confirm the specifics. For the GPA, I dont' know if school's actually individually calculate the GPA's themselves or not. I think it would make sense that they do, since not all the courses taken are pre-req's for a school. Hope I answered some of your questions. Good luck! :luck: |
