View Full Version : Best song to play.... PowderHound 05-15-2006, 11:25 AM ...after a bad day in clinic? Post away! Dunce 05-15-2006, 12:11 PM "Take This Job and Shove It" seems like a pretty obvious choice. I might go with David Allan Coe's version of it. And if you don't like that song of his, try "F*ckin in the Butt." If that song doesn't change your whole outlook on life, then nothing will....truly inspiring....a real model of what this great country stands for. amojan99 05-15-2006, 02:23 PM "Bad Day" By Daniel Powter Be careful though, it may make you want to kill yourself. shminger 05-15-2006, 02:52 PM  How about "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey? DOtobe 05-15-2006, 04:16 PM My personal favorite is "I Will Survive..." sophiejane 05-15-2006, 05:45 PM "What the World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love" moviefreak 05-15-2006, 06:06 PM anxiety by blackeyed peas then let's get retarded DHMO 05-15-2006, 07:26 PM Keep ya head up -Tupac vtucci 05-15-2006, 07:57 PM Sorry by Elton John (it may be the only time you hear it) DarksideAllstar 05-15-2006, 08:03 PM On my way to the L&D floor at 4:45 am, I use to hum the Imperial Death March from Star Wars. mysophobe 05-15-2006, 08:23 PM Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz kaos 05-15-2006, 08:30 PM The Scientist by Coldplay Nobody said it was easy Nobody ever said it would be this hard... Dunce 07-05-2006, 09:32 PM Radiohead -- "How To Disappear Completely" Although the title might seem to offer some secrets that would be much appreciated by the miserable third year student hiding in the janitor's closet frantically memorizing his copy of Surgical Recall two days before the shelf test, the real beauty of this song is in its chorus: I'm not here This isn't happening I'm not here I'm not here   Igor 07-05-2006, 10:30 PM Alive and Kicking by Simple Minds And then there is the default Hold on by Wilson Phillips Pewl 07-06-2006, 02:00 AM Erasure - "A Little Respect" dustinlevengood 07-06-2006, 07:02 PM "I Can" by NAS NY Musicologist 07-06-2006, 08:58 PM Chumbawamba: Tubthumping I get knocked down but I get up again / you ain't never gonna keep me down... :p NY Musicologist 07-06-2006, 09:08 PM deleting double post...sorry NY Musicologist 07-06-2006, 09:29 PM Crash Test Dummies: Superman's Song IdiotJones 07-06-2006, 11:59 PM I'm the Doctor and Blue Flowers - Dr. Octagon, and Falling Down Cunninlynguists sandalwoodsoap 07-07-2006, 03:10 AM Release Me by Englebert Humperdinck Please release me let me go... rad_one 07-07-2006, 10:48 AM "We're Not Gonna Take It" ---By good ole Twisted Sister. katrinadams9 07-07-2006, 03:22 PM "No Leaf Clover" by Metallica: Then it comes to be that the soothing light At the end of your tunnel Was just a freight train comin your way mesoderm 07-07-2006, 04:26 PM "Televators" by The Mars Volta You should have seen The curse that flew right by you Page of concrete Stainwalks crutch and hobbled sway Auto-D-dafe, a capillary hint of red And only this manupod crescent in shape has escaped Just trying to figure out what the hell they are singing about is enough to make you forget your bad day ;) Dr Girlfriend 07-08-2006, 11:13 PM I'm a fan of Bad Day by Fuel! DixieCup8 08-15-2006, 07:29 PM Kind of along the same lines...I have my pager ringer set to the Indiana Jones theme song, so instead of getting all pissed of when I get paged, it makes me giggle. Shodddy18 08-16-2006, 07:07 PM Am I awake by They Might be Giants... incidentaly this is the theme song to that old discovery channel show "residency life." I was commming off a 16 hour night shift last week and this song came up on my mp3 player and it seemed to capture the mood really well as I walked out of the hospital. HouseHead 08-30-2006, 12:15 AM At the moment, "Problèmes d'amour" by Alexander Robotnik is what keeps me from screaming. Or falling asleep. Krazykritter 08-30-2006, 06:10 AM "It's a Great Day to Whup Somebody's Ass" by comedian Paul Thorn...hilarious song. Laughing always makes you feel better but the words hit home sometimes too. Doc Samson 08-30-2006, 07:37 AM Either: Cochise by Audioslave - "Go on and save yourself, take it out on me." or, a more recent favorite: Pioneers by Bloc Party "If it can be broke then it can be fixed, if it can be fused then it can be split It's all under control If it can be lost then it can be won, if it can be touched then it can be turned All you need is time We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for? A sense of purpose and a sense of skill, a sense of function but a disregard We will not be the first, we won't You said you were going to conquer new frontiers, Go stick your bloody head in the jaws of the beast We promised the world, we'd tame it, what were we hoping for? Breath in, breath out So here we are reinventing the wheel I'm shaking hands with a hurricane It's a colour that I can't describe, It's a language I can't understand Ambition, tearing out the heart of you Carving lines into you Dripping down the sides of you We will not be the last." My residency program actually did this two years ago. A combination of pump up music/inside jokes etc. A few more: *I found it a little ironic to hear the third rendition in less than an hour of Daniel Pewter's "Bad Day" during a particulary nasty weekend call. It was like they were playing my "this call is sponsored by" theme song. *As a medical student I had a momentary smile while scrubbing on a perforated viscus/peritonitis case shortly after midnight when the anesthesiologist opted to crank up "After Midnight". Mr. McDuck 08-30-2006, 05:56 PM Like a Surgeon always makes me laugh. felipe5 08-31-2006, 04:41 AM On my way to the L&D floor at 4:45 am, I use to hum the Imperial Death March from Star Wars. lol, i knew something was missing from my early morning trecks to L&D....this song fits perfectly :horns: DOctorJay 08-31-2006, 11:21 AM Telepopmusik: Breathe it's a good reminder after a long stressful day http://www.bigbaer.com/lyrics/telepopmusik.genetic.world.breathe.htm Blue Dog 08-31-2006, 05:25 PM Jimmy Buffett. (At times, playing it loud helps. ;)) tiredmom 09-06-2006, 05:11 PM For the country folks out there... I like If You're Going through Hell by Rodney Atkins. Plus it's got a lively enough beat to keep you awake on the drive home post-call (which is impressive for a country song :) ) ... If you're going through hell Keep on going, Don't slow down If you're scared, don't show it You might get out Before the devil even knows you're there ...
