Hi-
I posted this in the pre-dental forum and not one person answered. So I though I would give it a shot here. I read in my SARs report that since I have about $19,000 of outstanding loans from undergrad that my grad loans were going to be "limited". Has anyone else had this happen? How much is limited? Does that mean I will get $19,000 less than what I would have been awarded? What can I do about this? What are my options and choices?
Thanks guys

Here you go:
FEDERAL STAFFORD LOAN

The COMBINED amounts borrowed under the Stafford and Unsubsidized Stafford loan programs cannot exceed the following annual loan limits:

INDEPENDENT STUDENTS:
Graduate/Professional - $18,500

A student is eligible for a new loan maximum every academic year up to the following aggregate loan limits:
$138,500 - Graduate/Professional

This means that you can borrow up to $138,500 combined in Stafford Loans in your whole academic career. If you already have borrowed $19,000 in Stafford Loans, that means you can only borrow another $119,500 in Stafford loans throughout your four years in dental school.

There are other loans that will be available to you if you run out of Stafford eligibility.

I wouldn't worry about it. Many students are going to be carrying Stafford Loan debt into dental school and you're probably on the low end for people that actually have debt.
