Hey, I'm a Hongkonger in Vancouver, and fortunately, did receive an interview request from HKU.

I've read about the statistics regarding non-JUPAS admissions into HKU's Faculty of Medicine, and gosh, they seem daunting. 1 out of 100 are accepted? I presume a lot hinges on the interview.

I desperately want to be accepted like the next person, and was wondering if anyone could offer some pointers for the interview? I'm fluent in English and Cantonese (and French too, but like it matters). I'm mainly concerned about the possible questions -- could anybody give me some samples? What are the interviewers mainly looking for? A certain attitude? Motivation? Leadership qualities? In addition, I see that many non-JUPAS applicants hold undergrad or grad degrees -- would my being just a high-school graduate make it exponentially harder?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I am also waiting for replies from HKU MBBS.
I heard the non-Jupas places are around 20-25, selected from an unknown number of interviewees. (anyone has any idea?)

Hey guys,

I'm Canada, and I'm completing my B.Sc this year. I applied to HKU MBBS 3 years ago and didn't get an interview. For those who got an interview, do you know what aspect caught their attention and thus granted you an interview?

Another question I have is, how come they would prefer interviewing a high-school student over another applicant with a Bachelor or Masters degree?!?!?

Thanks!

Paul

Hm, I'm thinking of applying to hku as well.

Jeez, the interview doesn't sound as bad as UMAT interviews though... at least you don't need to practice on "Interview questions".

Wow, so has anyone received their offer yet?
