For some reason, this section is keeping me away from a really high PAT score...i don't miss more than 1 or 2 on any other section. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to tackle keyholes?

I've gone through barron's but it hasn't really helped...hopefully theres some way to get this score a bit higher

fortunately, my mom bought me that Playskool toy where you put the star block into the star hole, etc. ...

I'd say pay a lot of attention to the details. Go over it and see what you've missed. I used to miss a lot on that section, but it comes with practice. Also, spend more time on that section, ie 12-15 min. if you don't miss anything on hole punching and cube counting, you should be getting a good score on PAT.:)
