basically I was wondering how exactly do these hospital branches work- Is it one huge consortium or separate entities that you can interchange electives if you rotate through there (Medical schools and Training programs)

Also what school(s) is MD Anderson associated with- is it U. of Texas at Houston?

And what is the general consensus on the top programs in this consortium- Baylor, SW, what others?

Thanks

each of the texas medical schools are seperate entities. if a student at utsw where do to a rotation at utmb that would be considered an away rotation; no different than if that same student did the rotation at school X. M.D. Anderson is formally associated with UT-Houston (i think), but i think that baylor residents also have the opportunity to do some rotations there. as far as top programs...depends what you're looking for. for internal medicine utsw is probably the top and is also widely regarded as a top 20 (maybe top 10) program. baylor is also a great program and would probably be closer to a top 20-30 type program. that being said, i do not think you can go wrong with im training at any of the ut schools. texas has alot of great academic and community programs.
