an aqueous soln is created from equal amount of 1 M HCl and 0.01 M sodium chlorid. What is the approximate pH of the solution.

a. 0
b. 1
c. 2
d. the pH of the soln cannot be estimated without the volumes of solution.


the correct answer is 0. But how would you arrive to you this answer. Thank you so much!

A solution of 1 M HCl ionizes to give 1 M H+ and 1 M Cl-.
The concentration of H+ = 1M
pH=-log of H+=-log 1=0
