Not to be rude, but WTF? I seriously hope you're joking about teaching the DAT for KAPLAN.
I mean, sucks to get those scores man, but KAPLAN is almost ethically wrong in hiring someone who scored a 16 and 17 in some of the easiest sections, and letting this person instruct a DAT course to other students..
Disclaimer: I took the KAPLAN DAT course and was thoroughly unimpressed. The material was decent, but I found 8 or 9 mistakes throughout the practice exams, and the instructing left a lot to be desired. The people at the center were nice, however the course was very overpriced for what I got.

I don't think i've ever seen anyone be so rude on SDN before...
"easiest sections on the exam," are you kidding? the math ALWAYS trips people up because its so unpredictable, and the reading isn't something you can learn how to do, like SNS.
denteng, "no offense," but you sound like an arrogant douche to me. Coolen had a pretty solid AA, and he/she improved it IMMENSELY, so good for him/her!
Coolen...word on the street is that post-bac really helps when you're applying , and considering you're DAT scores have improved immensely, you should be good to go, as long as your post-bac GPA is solid.
Best of luck!
IdiotsAnnoyMe 10-05-2006, 11:40 PM the course was very overpriced for what I got.
Ever computed the cost to take a class at a private school? something like 3 grand per class. 1.2k doesn't sound too bad, given it's targeted towards getting into dent. sch.

Coolen's new DAT score was 22/21/20. the requirement to audition for kaplan is to score a 90% above in those three area. all three of these scores are in the 95% i believe. For the OP, it depends on what kind of gpa you get on your post bac. but i know dental schools like improvement, so apply to a wide list of schools and i think your good to go. gl.

The cost of attending dental school is irrelevant. Kaplan did nothing for me that I could not have done on my own. That is why it is overpriced.

Gordon9721 10-06-2006, 10:51 AM i must be doing something wrong if math is the easiest section on the DAT

You seem to be missing the point.

Not really. IAM argued that the cost is insignificant to dental school, or private school courses. Regardless of the fact that I will be spending a lot of money on dental school, paying for something unnecessary to get me there, such as Kaplan, does not mean its cost is justified.
As for my math comment, I stand by it. Folks, the DAT tests high school math; it's not rocket science.

RT0223 10-07-2006, 12:36 PM I understand the Math itself isn't difficult IF the DAT isn't a timed test and IF we are allowed to use calculators...doing 40 q'n in 45 mins can be a big challenge....you need to take other factors into consideration as well...

Your comment is enirely your oppinion. However, to encroach upon someone else's hard work and determination and slap insults in thier face is a sign of your weak integrity and character as a human being. Perhaps you should focus upon your own faults before you jump the gun to criticize others. For all we know he could have had a bad day when taking these sections. Personally I would rather have a DAT teacher with professionalism rather than a callous individual such as yourself. The best teachers are wisest, not the smartest.

Umm...yes...that is true. Ya know.. bc everything else on the DAT is super complicated  (rocket science!). No offence but looking at coolens score...21/22/20...and then at your score...21/21/20...so who are you to judge him?
jwilson02 10-07-2006, 01:14 PM ^^ good point indeed! :D
Denteng you even said it yourself in this quote from your thread: "However, I was surprised with my low QR scoring.. I've taken so many math classes and was expecting to ace that part. Oh well. Glad to have this monkey off my back. "
So obviously from your standpoint, coolen is a better math student than his scores portray.

I'll take my teenager-free score any day of the week over Coolen's sporadic DAT, with average reading and sub-par math scores. Averages are nice, but schools look at more than an overall score. I will leave it up to you to decide which type of score is indicative of a strong student.
Furthermore, it is this kid's second time taking the DAT, but my first time. You think he/she would have learned by now, and aced the test the second time around.
News flash people: A high score in the sciences really does not mean much, other than you memorized a bunch of facts. Very little of the DAT actually tests how intelligent you are; it simply measures how hard you wish to work.
Still, with that said, Kaplan should employ instructors who score well when tested on high school math and reading.

Ya know...your condenscending comments show what kind of person you are. im not interested in arguing with you, simply let the pretension and close mindedness of your argument speak for themselves. However, don't knock on coolen for your own short comings. Your scores are consistent...more power to you...Coolen scores improved...and are higher then yours....more power to him. As for the kaplan thing, cry me a river, a good teacher is all about character and passion, based on those qualities alone...i'd gladly pick him over you.
