:) Students attending the 18th National Forum in Orlando...
Please take the opportunity to introduce yourselves and start discussing questions you might have. Any question is fair-game whether it is logistics or content related. The idea is that you use this forum so that you can make the most out of your time at the meeting.
Are you attending the whole conference, or only a few days?
Do you have articles that you want others to know about before you get there?
Are you working on an improvement project?
Do you have ideas for including quality in your school's curriculum?

Hi Kate,
Are you talking about the forum in Orlando? I looked at the agenda and it looks great ... but saw the registration fee was pretty steep. Are there student rates?
Thanks

Dear Complications,
There is a student rate of 50% off, but this is often still prohibitively expensive for students. We recommend that you try to get funding from your school or another scholarship resource. We also offer a limited number of scholarships. You can find information about this on our website:

A group from Clemson University found an affordable way to come to the Forum last year and I have asked them to post their recommendations on this website... so stay tuned!

Kate

Somehow I was able to attend the National Forum for 2 years as a medical student, and those experiences significantly shaped the direction of my career in medicine. If anyone is wondering whether the time, effort, and--yes, rather steep cost--is worth it, the answer is yes! Plus, IHI and many medical schools are able and willing to support students if their desire to attend the Forum is genuine and enthusiastic.
If you're able to attend the Forum for the first time, check out the program track called 'Fundamentals.' It's for first-timers and can be a really exciting way to get your feet wet and meet other people with similar interests and levels of experience.
Also, there is talk of having a Student Symposium at this year's Forum. Could be fun!

Couldn't agree more Gumption! The Forum is an awesome experience. And there is something for all interests and all levels. Of course, I'm biased: I worked at IHI for a couple years. But, I cannot even begin to explain how much the Forum and all the experiences of working in the health care improvement space have had on my future plans as a physician.
I'm going to make every effort to be in Orlando in December for the conference. I hope to see you all there!

AGN,
If you can make it to the Forum this year, let's be sure to connect.
Cheers.
