Thanks to lawyers, this would be very difficult to do. Look at it this way. If something gets missed and a plaintiff's attorney is able to show that the only person to ever read the film/scan was someone not even licensed in the US, how many zeroes do you think there will be in the damage award?

Such "nighthawk" programs do exist in small scale, but always with subsequent re-reading of films by US radiologists. I wouldn't worry too much. (Just my opinion, though).

Main threats to radiology are declining reimbursements, greater autonomy for radiology assistants, and the rise of specialties, such as cards, that train their own to interpret imaging.

They talk about this a lot in the rads forum. It really isn't much of a concern. Every speciality has a doomsday situation, none will really pan out. I think it is much more dangerous not being able to adapt to future changes....rads is one of those areas that evolve so rapidly it can be exhausting if it isn't your type of thing.
