Hi, I am writing an article for my school magazine and I need some information on the 5th Pathway Program. I know that there are about 7 states that do not acknowledge the program, but I don't know which states do not comply with the AMA's recommendation. Please help! Thanks.

According to Dr. Arthur Ostein at Continuing Medical Education at the American Medical Association (312) 464-4662 - the following states answered a 1999 survey saying that they DO NOT accept graduates from 5th pathway programs for licensure: Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Utah, Vermont. Hope this helps. I don't know if anyone is active in trying to get the laws changed in these states.
