So I have been complete for over a week here and really am dying to hear back for an interview. Would it be a bad idea to email the admissions coordinator asking her they have reviewed my file?

Would it be a bad idea to email the admissions coordinator asking her they have reviewed my file? jafri91 11-07-2006, 09:21 AM From what I understand, they can take up to 3 weeks ... I'm in the same boat is you, I've been complete since 10/31 ... but I would wait another week or two before contacting them. just my 2 cents Here is what it says in their email when you are complete "We will contact you concerning the status of your file within 30 days." PatDO12 11-07-2006, 09:40 AM Do you mind me asking what your GPA, MCAT, medical experience, etc... are? KeyLime 11-07-2006, 09:54 AM Back in August, people were getting interviews right after they were complete. I think that they are more backed up now. It took at least two full weeks from the time my app was complete until the time I was offered an interview. I was freaking out about just like you guys! Just be patient. No news is not always bad news. musiclink213 11-07-2006, 10:14 AM It took me 3 weeks to get an invite. I would just be patient. They've got more applications now, and it'll take a bit longer. Just relax. jafri91 11-07-2006, 10:41 AM Do you mind me asking what your GPA, MCAT, medical experience, etc... are? Just to let you know I haven't gotten an interview yet either, I'm patiently waiting, but man seriously sometimes this waiting is unhealthy I check my inbox about a million times a day :). To answer your question I have a 3.25 overall. approx 3.1 sci gpa ( I basically did terrible my fresh year, and brought it up ever since). Mcat was 9, 9, 9, (27O) My EC's are pretty good (in my opinion) held positions for two diff student run organizations, did two summers worth of research at a hospital, one of the papers got published in Chest (medical journal). I have shadowed DO residents and med students, lots of other volunteer stuff I know my gpa is low, but I think that my Mcat and EC's and LORS can help me get in (hopefully) Gluck to you, and like everyone said try to relax (easier said then done!) PatDO12 11-07-2006, 11:28 AM I was worried because as an earlier poster stated they were getting back to applicants within days, but it's reassuring to hear that it is taking most people 2-3 weeks to hear back. stasy 11-07-2006, 11:55 AM i have been complete since 10/25 and I havent heard back from them either... wow, i hate waiting so so much Bluemirage 11-07-2006, 12:16 PM Don't worry...it took nearly 3 weeks for me to receive an interview from them (they were waiting for my August MCAT scores). They are receiving a record number of applications this year. I would call them if it takes longer than 3-4 weeks. Good luck in the process! edge_of_me 11-07-2006, 01:48 PM So i know it's taking awhile to get an interview, but how far in advance are the scheduling them? When i talked to admissions in late October ~ 21st, they saidt they were scheduling interviews for November. And then does anyone know how long it takes to get accepted following the interview (how optimistic am i :) )??? This was/is my number one but I might have been too late in the game :S. I have to decide by Dec. 14th... I don't think i could get accepted to DMU before then... (i was also complete 10/31). Is there a chance? whatdapho 11-07-2006, 01:56 PM So i know it's taking awhile to get an interview, but how far in advance are the scheduling them? However, a lot of folks heard from them within 10 days. As for when I heard, it was nearly 3 weeks because the Dean of DMU was out of town at a conference. edge_of_me 11-07-2006, 02:07 PM aaaai... well i guess there's a small tiny chance... thanks for the quick response, will you be attendin there next year? If you do get an interview, you could always ask to move it up. That's what I had to do last year. I had to tell another school if I was going to go there or not so I moved my interview up at DMU. They were very nice about it. Even if the interviews are full, they will let you know if there's been a cancellation. Good luck! edge_of_me 11-07-2006, 04:23 PM Thanks! Toohotinvegas33 11-07-2006, 05:27 PM There are two ways you can go about this, A. Wait 2 weeks patiantly as you watch you hair fall out. B. Call them every day, and ask for the person in charge and then yell at that person on why your stuff isnt complete. Now, with a quick observation of the physical attributes of most docs, you can clearly see they chose choice A |
