Any information would be great! Visionary 11-29-2006, 08:36 AM I'm currently training at Louisville, and I think it's a very solid program that's only getting better. See my post from April of this year under the thread "Louisville Program." We are interviewing this Friday and Saturday, so not much time for you to decide. Feel free to PM me, if you have specific questions. Visioncam 12-01-2006, 05:09 PM I've heard this many times, i.e. "I am from the North Korean ophthalmology program and we have freedom and democracy". In retrospect, the programs that I interviewed at that did not insist they were so great were decent programs. Among the worst programs in the country had a resident that insisted that their program was one of the best in the country! smiegal 12-02-2006, 12:07 AM One of my favorite pieces of North Korea propaganda ever ==> Kim Jong-il had 11 holes in one during his first round of golf. Visionary 12-02-2006, 09:48 AM I've heard this many times, i.e. "I am from the North Korean ophthalmology program and we have freedom and democracy". In retrospect, the programs that I interviewed at that did not insist they were so great were decent programs. Among the worst programs in the country had a resident that insisted that their program was one of the best in the country! I've noted that you were one of the posters who was critical of Louisville in the aforementioned thread. I don't know what particular beef you have with my program, but I'd say that I am in a better position than you to comment on it. I have nothing to gain by lying about it. What sense would that make? I'll be in fellowship when the current interviewees start their respective residencies. Furthermore, nowhere did I state that Louisville is "one of the best" programs in the country. I simply stated that I feel it's solid and getting better. You know, I've found that many critics are critical of others to make themselves feel better about their own situations. I'll ask this: are you happy in your program? I'm happy in mine. :) idoc 12-02-2006, 01:23 PM Visionary, I wonder what you could have said that visioncam would not have met with such undeserved hostility? I must agree with visionary that the University of Louisville's ophthalmology program is solid and has made great strides in the past 4 years to get to where it is today. And I am not a resident at that program, but a former medical student at U of L. I'm not sure what bone visioncam has to pick with Louisville, but I think the post is a bit off base. Just my $0.02. Visioncam 12-07-2006, 01:40 PM . I don't know what particular beef you have with my program, but I'd say that I am in a better position than you to comment on it. I have nothing to gain by lying about it. No beef about your program. After all, you didn't say that your program was the best so that means that it's not the worst! I interviewed there before. My impression was that it could be better considering the resources that they have but that it was not the worst. My impression was also that people there insisted a bit too much that they were good, but not as much as some programs insisted. |
