I am trying to get a feel for the average length of preceptorship from hospitals throughout the country. I understand it may have a wide variance. Just trying to get a feel from nurse out there and how long theirs was. I would also like to know the kinds of benefits packaging the hospitals are offering. Things such as: vacation days each year and how flexible they are, health insurance plans, life insurance plans, opportunities for advancing education, etc... I appreciate all the responses.

I worked at a hospitalin Columbus, Oh as a PCT before med school. The nurses worked with a preceptor for 8 weeks before they were on their own with an assignment. This was a med/surg floor with about 65 beds, and they hired mostly new grads. Hope that helps!
