Does anyone think its a good idea to volunteer in a dental school and talk to dental students to get a feel for the profession? In addition, if you can get a letter of recommendation from a professor in dental school then is that a good idea?

I got the opportunity to work in the dental clinic at the dental school and helped third amd fourth year dental students in their clinical work. A lot of them said that before even taking the DAT you should at least go to the dental school and observe what they actually do and see if this is really what you want to do. I think its very important for each and every one of us to at least do this once to get the feel for it because its a lot of hard work and dedication. After my discussion with some dental students they said that at least some drop out in the first or second semester and they find that they really do not like the profession so I think its important do hang out in one of their classes and observe what they do.
