Pros??? Cons??
Pros:
1. Probably the best benefits package offered in the country: cheap housing, good salary, all insurance covered, 4 free meals a day, $100 off any gym membership you sign up for...etc
2. Location: it's located in a very nice area of Long island...and your only 30 mins away from NYC...the LIRR train stops on hospital grounds...so it's easy to get around.
3. Fellowships: Has every fellowship except allergy/immunology. Has sleep fellowship and Interventional cards as well.
4. very friendly and efficient ancilliary staff
5. Good repsentation of residents....AMG's , US IMG's , DO's, and only 1 or 2 foreign trained FMG's.
Cons:
1. It's still a community hospital
2. Education: eventhough there's alot of lectures/conferences going on...there are no formal bedside rounds and u deal with majority private patients...so i really think your clinical training is limitied
3. Cafeteria: the food really sucks there
4. If ur an FMG, it's hard to get Cards or GI there unless u do a chief year...they do give out Cards/GI to residents who dont do chief years..but they usually are AMG's.
