i had a pretty good step 1 score (in the 230's). and i even got some interviews at some good programs. but i got a low step 2ck score, which i'll probably release to the programs since that's the advice i got from a previous thread. but will i be at the bottom of every program's rank list?? do i even have a chance at matching at a middle tier university affiliated program? i really liked Brown and U.Maryland but i'm sad b/c i'm afraid i wont even match anywhere!! :(

if I were you I would go and talk to my med school advisor when deciding whether to release your step 2 scores rather than just following the advice of those on an internet site

well i did email my dean about what happened and i havent heard back from him yet.
i guess i just want to know is there anybody else going through or has gone through the same thing?? i'm an amg at a pretty good school with a decent step 1 score in mid 230's and now this low step 2ck score. did other people who went through this have to scramble or did they get the program of their choice.

I don't know what to tell you in regards to your Step 2 CK score. You have a great Step 1 score and that should carry a lot of weight in itself. How does the rest of your application look? If you have good grades, letters, etc. all of that may help to offset your Step 2 score. Good luck!

reasons why you shudnt worry:

1. your an AMG
2. you have a really good step 1 score
3. you are applying to internal medicine
4. and most important your an AMG!!

Seriously, why release your scores? Do they know that you took step 2? If they don't then wait! If they do, then I agree with what someone else wrote and talk to your advisor. And lastly, don't freak out unless you only applied to the top 5 programs in the country and nothing else ;)

Don't release your score

I would say not to release your score unless a program specifically asks about it, then you can fax them a copy of your score.
My guess is that if a program is not going to rank you because they do not have your step 2 CK results (despite a good step 1), then they probably wouldn't rank you with a low step 2 score anyway - and I'm sure there are several programs that will rank without seeing your step 2.

so on eras i think i put down that i plan to take step 2 in november. so that's why i'm afraid that programs will be contacting me in february and asking me for my score.
and no i did not only interview at really competitive programs. i did interview at some good places like johns hopkins, utsw, emory, washu, brown. and i'm also interviewing at other places like umaryland, unc, uthouston, ohio state, ucincinnati, upittsburgh, and rush.
so hopefully i can match somewhere but i obviously prefer getting into a good program, i just dont know what my chances are since i got a low score.

so i decided that i will hold the score until programs ask me for it and then i'll send it to them specifically. and i'll be praying that i match somewhere good.
thanks for the advice.
