Now that I've gotten into pharmacy school, i was wondering whether or not I should send a thank you letter to all those who wrote recommendations for me.

How did you guys go about it?

i believe this would be appropriate since they were part of the process. i know a guy who did this and he has a copy of his acceptance letter on the Science building in our school. Only thing on the board so it stands out.

I think you should send thank you notes to the ones that wrote you letters of recommendation even BEFORE you know if you got accepted..but that's just my opinion. :)

I agree. I am waiting until my LOR's are received by the school and then I will shortly send my references thank you letters.

It never hurts to say "Thank You!" to the one's who have helped you along your path.

What about a small gift? i was thinking maybe a $20 starbuck gift card or something smaller because I don't want to be extravagant. What do you guys think?

I only have 4 people to write thank you letter to so that's not a lot.

Also, last time I asked this pharmacist to write me one. He at first agreed and then later told me he's too busy and I have to write one. He said write whatever and he will proofread it and sign it. I was the one who actually mail the letter and everything even though I gave him a pre-stamped mail already. I guess he just lost it or whatever. Anyway, I was wondering whether or not I should send him a thank you letter also cuz it seems like I did all the work.

I was thinking of doing the same thing and posting a similar thread.

What kind of gifts do you think are a good idea? I am hesitant about giving gift cards because I really don't want people to know how much I spend.

I think right now for me is the perfect time to give the thank you's because I just had 3 interviews and have been accepted to one school, I really want to say thank you before my post-interview rejections come in

I was thinking about giving my professors the popcorn bin things..you know with the caramel, chedder, and normal popcorn. Or you could find some other food item to buy them (without having to get a gift certificate)...:)

Just send a handwritten note by US Mail - it will get to me. Use proper English & remind me of who you are (ie the letter you wrote for me to UOP for example).

Don't send me any gifts!!!

The thank you actually is best written before your acceptance or rejection - that will motivate me to write you another one if you need one (if you didn't use the letter service at your university).

I already sent thank you notes to all of my prof's 1-2 weeks after they wrote my recommendation letters--I just thought that if I got in--that getting them a gift would be nice (especially since 2 of the 3 professors are my neighbors--one of which I watch his house and dog when he is away) :D
