when I first prepared for the DAT I was also very concerned about the bio section....the fact that it has the most questions of all the sciences and also that they could really throw anything at you.
long story short, i spent 60-70% of my time on bio and it ended up being my biggest mistake. Although I scored a 22 in that section, I could have cut my bio studying in half and easily scored just as well. There will be random questions that even your bio prof. might get wrong....not to mention some of the questions are ambiguous/ completely random. I know there were 2 questions on my test that I couldn't even answer w/ an open book....and it wasn't even the degree of difficulty...one was a question about some random pioneering experiment/history type deal that i never even heard of....to this day i can't figure out why they asked it....or the answer.
if i were you.....I would supplement your above materials in a few key areas...mostly classification, plants, and development. Pick up a good AP bio book and you will easily spot the areas kaplan is weak in. A lot of people like the schaums bio book, but it was wayyyyy too detailed for what i saw on the test. I fell into the trap of cramming schaums 2 weeks before and it ended up just being a waste of time. reading some of these posts, it's obvious some posters are here to intimidate you and will send you down wild goose chases.
but don't worry about bio...it was by far the easiest section. the bio level of difficulty is right on par w/ AP bio....so I would use that as a supplement. ive never used cliffs AP bio, but a lot of people have been recommending it lately....when i took the test i used kaplan AP bio (which is surprisingly different than the DAT book in some areas) and Arco AP bio.
honestly.....schaums Bio= waste of time and energy.

I think Schaums biology is great - but in your case, you have plenty of DAT prep stuff already. Work with what you have, take a few practice tests - then if you still feel weak in bio grab a copy of schaum's, but you should be fine if you work hard with all the resources you already have.
