I'm taking the test again in august because of my low Mcat score.....

Do I wait to submit my application or still submit and take the test again.

What were your original scores?

Lets just say below 20. I took TPR and i was doing fine. I must have frozen or misbubbled. My main problem was verbal. Bio and Phys I handled fine.

I know I can much better...I have on all the practice exams. I'm just scared because I think this one test just completely ruined my chances. Even for DO schools. I've already started studying hardcore again. I'm doing passage after passage. I guess it was just a bad misfortune, but I dont think medschools will see it that way.

I think the answer would depend on the rest of your stats. If you have a good GPA, good ECs, and think you have good LORs, then I think you should go ahead and apply now and retake in August. Make sure you check the box that says you're retaking in August so that the schools don't reject you outright.

With a score that's below 20, I'd definitely recommend retaking the MCAT. To that end, I would not recommend submitting the AMCAS and hope to get a better score in August. I would take the Aug MCAT and apply next spring. That way you'll have time for the April MCAT if necessary. Also, you'll have time to really make your application great.

It's not that we don't want to take the time to reply... it's just a very difficult question. :)

There's no question that you must retake. That's a given...

If I were you I would wait and apply next year... but that's me. A sub-20 score is rather serious a handicap. I would consider waiting a whole year... go do peace-corp or take classes or do something that will add to yoru application... then retake next April (after you've finished PR). This is what I would do... but it might not be what you should do.

good luck :)

Perhaps your "crapy" scores have to do with your CRAPPY (note the second "P") spelling.

just kidding

I wonder what the people on the pre-osteopathic forum would think about this....
