I'm 30, married, non-traditional applicant who is coming from a law background.

I'm very interested in applying to marriage and family therapy master's programs, and I'm wondering what kind of research or clinical experience these programs will be looking for. I doubt any LMFT would let me sit in on sessions with their clients, though I have done a number of informational interviews with them. Anyone have any insights into this?

Thanks!

You can get good clinical experience at crisis lines or rape crisis centers. In my experience you need at least 100 hours of clincal experience before applying--however this requirement may be program specific. Also, you should get experience in which you are trained and doing some "counseling".

hope this helps!
