Hello Everyone,

I'm new member, and i have been driving myself crazy for the past couple of days... I've been going through all the different threads and i'm still confused.. please help!

My exam is in a month, I went through the Kaplan book once, and some workshops etc.. online, i bought the top score and achiever but havent looked at them yet ( kind of scared! :scared:)

so here's what i learned from the threads.. the kaplan book is def. not sufficient.. at least not for the bio section..
Achiever and top score is worth it, so i got them :)

My questions:
1. Is the DAT Destroyer only questions and answers? or does it have lessons on the subjects too? how long is it? (how many pages/Questions?) is it worth getting it now? since i only have about a month to study..is the bio section complete? math?
(from other threads i read mixed reviews about this book..i heard good stuff about the orgo and G chem but not really form the math and Bio? )

2. BIOLOGY: could someone compare the bio sections in Destroyer, kaplan, Schaum bio, and Cliff's Ap Bio? which is the best one? and if u've taken the test which rev was the closest comparison to the actual DAT bio?

3. I NEED MAJOR HElp for the PAT!!! i have the top score and achiever.. but should i get PAT cracker? i heard it's way too hard and not really representative of the actual Test? if u think i should get it which version is the best? [ (jack->1 test) (Queen-->3tests) (King-->5) (Ace-->10) (Royal Flush->10+xtra)]
Are there any other PAT practice tests that are good, possibly cheaper?..lol

4. QRT : i know two people that took the DAT's and they both said that for some reason they did a lot worse in QR (16, 17 ) section even though they were getting 20+ on the practice exams..i feel like that might happen to me.. :(
in one of the threads, someone recommended GRE math practice exams... but was wondering if anyone else used a book that was helpful 4 the QR section?

5. how did u strengthen verbal scores? (i dont even get to finish this section :( )

6. one more thing..when should i start taking the top score and achiever full lengths? if u've taken these and the actual DAT could u post ur scores 4 these tests, vs. the actual DAT? (if u dont mind of course ;) )
i've read the threads on these i know achiever has the best rep, but i kinda wanna know how the scores on the tests compare to the actual exam?

thankx a bunch ahead of time, i could use all the help i could get

and sorry for such a long 1st thread :o

Missy;)

For the bio i used as many resources as possible including Schaums and Destroyer. The Destroyer had many similar questions to my DAT exam. I felt like it was solid all around. As far as the math use as many resources as possible it will give you a broad background necessary for the DAT.

Hey missy,
First of all relax and:). if you don't learn to chill a little bit you will never perform to your potential. I am not saying a little nerves are not good to help you stay motivated, but theres a fine line.
Secondly, to answer your question about the destroyer:yes, you are right the format is question and answer. However, the answers are a lecture in and of themselves as long as you read them carefully and really examine why the right answers are right and the wrong answers are wrong. From everyone I have spoken to they have told me that it is the closest thing to the material that the DAT asks on in comparison with all of the other study materials. It is certainly not too late to get it, as a matter of fact now that you have studied for a little bit you can really see where you are holding. The best part is that it is challenging, you usually learn from your wrong answers better than your correct ones. It is certainly worth your time and money in my opinion. All of the science sections are really great.
For QR I would go with the barrons book, as it seems to be the choice of most of the people that do well on that section.
Bio- do all that you can.
Hope this helped.
Good luck and remember relax, the worst case scenario is that you lose 10 bucks and you reschedule. But in the meantime a month is plenty of time left.
