Hi I was wondering if Kaplan's prep course is effective? If not (in your opinion) can you suggest some prep courses please? Does anyone find self-study with DAT books more effective than taking classes? If so, which books did you use? I'm apply for 09's dental school so I would like to get an early head start. Thank you

I found it to be worthless. You can just read the kaplan book front to back and supplement it with destroyer, achiever and topscore pro. Find a book on physiology. There is a lot of stuff on that.

Were the videos pretty good? I just want something with someone showing me how to calculate the problems...I also suck at standardized tests and need help in thinking through strategies for that.

I didn't like Kaplan class but their books are good. I would just get the Kaplan books, Topscore, and Destroyer. These are good sources.

As far as I know, you can't buy the white book unless you are enrolled in their class.
The blue book is easily found on amazon dotcom.
To the OP: Kaplan's courses I've heard repeatedly are not good, however, their book I have found very useful.
Look into getting the Kaplan subject tests if you can (ask around to friends as they are not available unless you take course) as they have extra helpful practice....
Though this is not imperative if you are getting something like Destroyer. But any extra practice is good, of course.
