I know that if two compounds undergo a reaction, and both have the same number of moles that the one with higher coefficient will be the limiting reagent, because it's being used up faster.

However if the two compounds do not have the same amount of mols, is the compound with the smaller mol value the limiting reagent and the larger the excess?

Thanks in advance

It all depends on how many moles you start out with or how many your are told you start with. Once you find out how many you need (with Sociometric calculations) you compare how many you have ( or how many your were told you have) to how many you need ... The one that you have less off is your limiting reagent (the other which you have more of) is the excess...

Hope it helps
