View Full Version : took second DAT. it's over!
ficha 08-13-2007, 10:53 PM it turned out to be much better than the first one..
First DAT
PA-23(99.0)
QR-22(94.2)
RC-18(39.0)
Bio-18(65.1)
GChem-21(87.3)
Ochem21(87.6)
TS 19(76.7)
AA 20(85.1)
Second DAT
PA -21(93.0)
QR- 23(96.0)
RC-25(98.0)
Bio-26(99.6)
Gchem-24(94.5)
Ochem-26(97.7)
TS 25(99.5)
AA 25(99.8)
Second test result was better than I expected.:)
I spent all summer for studying.. Finally I'm free!
I think RC was easier than the last time ...
For bio, I really had hard time studying because I did not learn any bio in high school in U.S, and struggled in general bio in college. (I took one biochem class after general bio)
but hard work pays off!
I think QR is harder than ( and has problems with 2 answers ..) Achiever.
I usually got 29's on practice tests but could not do better in QR than other sections.
(I got TS20, AA22 for first achiever test about 10 days before second DAT)
I used a textbook(Campbell), RED book(read first 400 pages and gave up), AP cliffnote bio for bio.
I also used Barrons organic chemisty for Ochem, and Examcrackers verbal for RC( both thin and thick ones)
I studied Kaplan blue book and DAT destroyer also..
Since my applications has been already arrived to dental schools I hope ADA sends my score as soon as possible..(Does it really take 3 weeks to send an official score?)
vhh007 08-13-2007, 10:59 PM holy (*@#*!@ great scores! congrats!

golfer 08-13-2007, 11:36 PM From a 20/19 to 25/25!!!!! Hard work really does pay off! Congrats
Yah-E 08-13-2007, 11:38 PM Why in the world did you retake it? 20/23 are very respectable scores! ****, congrats on your second attempt, but man...I would've accept the 20/23 and had a life!
Streetwolf 08-13-2007, 11:43 PM Who cares if it takes 3 weeks, you're solid. Enjoy a stress-free application process.
jigabodo 08-13-2007, 11:52 PM Who cares if it takes 3 weeks, you're solid. Enjoy a stress-free application process.
I think that is A LOT more than a solid score. I consider a solid score 3.5 and 20/20 with nothing below 17 on AA and that should get you multiple interviews granted you go to a respectable university.
With his omgwtfpwnage DAT score, he will pbb hear back from more than 90% of the schools he applied to if his GPA>3.2.
Damn you are freaking insane. Job well done though.
futuredentist07 08-14-2007, 12:41 AM :cool:whoa!! are these scores fro real! you literally put the dats in a choke slam position!! you kilt it!! simply amazing.. congrats on your hard work..guess it does pay off!:eek:

i'm curious, what was the difference, in terms of studying habit/material/anything, for the first attempt and the second attempt, that gave u such a huge improvement?
thanks
DENTFRIO 08-14-2007, 02:46 AM Wow... where r u applying?! I am sure you will get in with those sweet scores!

quikag1 08-14-2007, 11:16 AM Im hoping to take my exam again soon and was wondering what you did to study differently the second time around.
thanks for the help and good luck with the terrific scores
ficha 08-14-2007, 11:21 AM Thanks!
For the first dat, I just studied Kaplan blue book, topscore, and cliffnote bio.
Then I studied for the whole summer with many other studying materials recommended on this forum. And I was somewhat sick when I took first DAT. Maybe I could've done better on my first one..
For the second dat(8/13), I really think I was lucky..
As for the study materials..I think Kaplan book was not that bad. (even though it is really not enough for DAT) I think this book organized the materials well so it was easy to memorize. (especially ochem) I liked it, but every person has different studying technique/habit....:)
I did not see any exact questions from achiever..but I did not do all the problems in achiever..
aggiedentist29 08-14-2007, 11:24 AM yeah thats really good! how did you study exactly...how many hours and whatnot....? thanks a bunch!

Great score, that's about how much I jumped on my second DAT as well. I hope other posters take your and my own experiences as examples that big jumps are possible, although official ADA published stats show that retakers generally suffer.
aggiedentist29 08-14-2007, 11:32 AM or just how were you able to stay effective? focused? good job! amazing scoress!!! i would be thrilledddd if i got that! =)
