Hey guys,
I ve been looking through the statistics at FREIDA and read that the average percent of international medical graduates in the US is 8.2%. Some other residencies are even lower and others much higher in percentage. Is there any specific reason for this?
I take it that a low percentage would mean that I'll have less chances in getting the specific residency in the US, is that the case?

Thanks in advance for the info!

residency selectiveness may have one thing to do with which fields they enter (i.e. dermatology is hard for any US med student to get into, so i assume people from IMG schools that arent known to derm programs have a tougher challenge)

the other thing to consider is whether or not that many IMG even want to practice in the US...i.e. a person who is Pakistani going to a Pakistani Med School doesnt necessarily even want to practice in the US given their family and friends may live there...

good luck to you though if you do want to come here!!!
