Hi everybody,

What is the answer? How do you set up this type of problem.

Susan and Edvard shared 180 and Susan got 25 percent more than Edvard. How muc did Edvard get?

I dont know of any shorter method but this is how I solved it:

E=Edvard
S=Susan

E+S=180
E+.25E=S (25% more than Ed)
n then, solving for E,
E+1.25E=180
E=80

Susan: 90 X .25 = 23 = 23+90 = 113
Edvard: 90 X .25 = 23 90-23 = 77

you can easily check the answer by plugging the number back
is 100 25% more than 80?
or is 113 25% more than 73?

80 is correct
